VMRS Import
VMRS Import allows you to import VMRS (Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standard) codes from a third party source file.
Note: iMaint uses VMRS Code Key 33 which includes the system codes (the first two digits), the assembly codes (the next group of three digits), and the component codes (the third grouping, which is also three digits). These codes are used to determine where the work is being done on the vehicle. The source file used to import these codes must be in a valid tab delimited text file format. Examples of text file extensions are .TXT and .CSV.
Note: Before importing, purchase your own copy of the VMRS codes, which should be available as a tab delimited text file. The data you import will merge with existing data. Check out The American Trucking Association website for more detailed information regarding VMRS Codes, specific types of Key Codes and the use of VMRS codes.
Import
On this section of the form, you are telling iMaint which data from the source file you are importing. You may select to import System Codes (the first set of digits); Assembly Codes (the second set of digits); Component Codes (the third set of digits); or all three.
Import To
The second section of the form will tell iMaint which module to import this data into. The import process will allow you to set these codes up as iMaint Procedures, GLs and/or Codes/VMRS. Please know the following information about importing VMRS to define the following records within iMaint.
Procedures: When you are importing into procedures and records are being added, the ID and description will import, the status will be active and the default warehouse will be used. If the procedures record already exists, the description will be replaced.
General Ledgers: When you are importing into general ledgers and records are being added, the ID and description will import and the account type will be "expense." If the general ledger record already exists, the description will be replaced.
Codes: When you are importing into codes and records are being added, the ID and description will import and the code type will be "VMRS." If the codes and the record already exists, the description will be replaced.
Use the VMRS File Directory field to point to your source text file. Save your settings and use the Update VMRS Code option on the ribbon bar to bring in data from the source file.
