Importing Crystal Reports
iMaint gives you the ability to import and modify reports written using the Crystal Decisions software. Import and publish your Crystal Reports to access inside the iMaint module. A wizard will walk you through the import process. To access the import wizard, right click on any report to display the pop up menu then select the option to import a Crystal Report. ActiveReports will kick off the wizard that will allow you to browse your computer or network for the Crystal report file.
The following steps will walk you through importing a Crystal report.
Note: You must have the view used to create the Crystal report already saved to the iMaint database before starting the import process. You will also need to have at least Crystal 10 installed before you import your Crystal Reports.

Once you have accessed the import wizard off the pop up menu a Welcome window will display. Click Next to continue.

Use the Select File button to search for the Crystal report file on your computer or network using the Microsoft Windows pop up screen. Once you select the appropriate Crystal Report file name click Open to return to the Import Wizard and select Next to continue.

Using the drop down menu select the view to be used to generate the Crystal report file that you have previously saved into iMaint. A list of fields used to generate the view will be available for you to scroll through but you will not need to select a field before clicking on Next.

The ActiveReports Designer will display the imported report file in edit mode. Proofread the fields and formulas inside your report and adjust them accordingly. |

Under the File menu on the toolbar select Save As to name and save your report. Make sure to save the report under C:\Program Files\iMaint\Report Files for use with the iMaint Report Module. Save the report using the .rpx extension and exit the Report Designer.

Right click on any report and select the option to Publish a New Report. A Microsoft Windows pop up screen displays for you to browse and select the newly imported report. Once you select your report file the Publish iMaint Reports window will appear.
The report file name will default along with the Master View. The System will assign a prefix of CM (custom) to any report published into iMaint that is not a pre-defined iMaint report. You may change the prefix if desired. The Report ID field will also default a prefix of CM (custom) and can be changed as well. All new reports published into iMaint must have a unique Report File Name and ID. Completely fill out the form and click the button to Publish your report for use with iMaint. |
