Work Order User Defined Fields Tab
The User Defined tab is where an employee can enter, update, and display information that is specifically custom to your company. These fields can hold information regarding assets, asset types, contacts, work orders, parts, or projects. User Defined fields are pre-defined by the System Administrator before you start entering Work Orders. Located in the Utilities module, these fields can give your company the ability to make iMaint forms specifically meet your needs. The possibilities are limitless.
Basically, user defined fields allow you to create your own fields to track numeric, text, date or currency values. You can even make it required for the users to enter a value in the User Data field, but remember, if the field is required it will need to have a default value.
Once the fields are defined in Utilities, the User Defined tab is where the user enters, updates, and displays these custom fields
It contains the following fields:

Field Name |
Specifies the label defined by the user (e.g., Color). This field is read-only. |
User Data |
Accepts and displays a value relevant to the user-defined field (e.g., Blue). This is the field where the user will log the necessary data to record. |
Unit of Measure |
Specifies the unit of measure for numeric user defined fields (e.g., inches). This field is read-only. |
Description |
Accepts and displays comments about the user defined value (e.g., blue motors are 50 HP). This field is read-only. |
