Exporting Report Files to Run on Different iMaint Databases
iMaint allows you to export report file consisting of both the Layout and Configuration information, including any subreports. All the parts of a report are compacted into a .imr file that you may use to import into other iMaint databases or Sites. This process is different than extracting data from the iMaint database. Exporting a report file, means you are creating a file that holds the reporting commands, to be used in another location.
For example, if you are a large corporation and have iMaint installed at multiple sites using different databases/servers, you may create this imr file to use within the other sites. Once the .imr file is created, you simply use the import option to bring it back into the iMaint ActiveReports reporting tool at another location.
Creating a .imr File
Locate the report you wish to export. Use the right click option to display the menu. Select the option to Export your report file.
When the Save window appears, name your file appropriately to a location on your computer.
Note: The report name cannot be more than 30 characters in length.
Now, you have just created a compact .imr file, you may import into other sites.
